Our sweet Penny arrived a week early on January 20, 2014 she was 8 lb 11 oz and 21 inches long. I was scheduled to be induced monday morning at 8 am and went into labor sunday night and had Penny at 3:11am monday morning. As we drove to the hospital with Lucy at home with my mom i was having all kind of feelings and emotions going through me, feeling guilty for Lucy to be left and that her world was going to be thrown for a loop, excited to give her a new sister, scared of how labor would go and the change of being a mom of 2! Well i can say that nothing went how i thought it would but it has all worked out perfectly! I was having hard consistent contractions and thought we should go in and be checked, Roman didn't think we should go so i debated for a couple of hours but finally said we were going. When we got there i was at a 6, so they admitted me, i was at a different hospital than i was suppose to deliver at but since my original hospital was an hour away we didn't make it there and went to the closer hospital. The down side of that was my midwife didn't deliver me which i was sad about! I got my epidural shortly after arriving which gave relief. I dilated fairly quickly but my water hadn't broken so around 3 the nurse checked me and i was at a 10, she had me start pushing to see if my water would break on its own. Well first push my water burst all over, poor nurse, and second push Penny was crowning. The nurse started yelling for the dr who literally ran in the room yelling stop pushing and barely had time to put gloves on and catch Penny. Easiest delivery for him not for me, my epidural had worn off and i felt everything, it was horrible however i recovered so much faster which was a plus. Penny had a hard time breathing at first and it scared the heck out of me, finally after a couple minutes they got her breathing and she pinked up. As they laid her on my chest for the first time i felt so much relief because i was given a healthy baby! She was very round and so cute, started eating right away and stole our hearts!
